The other files and directories are necessary for proper operation of your web site. Most of them you will not need to worry about, as long as they are left alone. Some are control files, password files, and so on.

The /www/ and /cgi-bin/ directories are the only ones you should have a need to mess with.

As for #2, are you using the CNC? I haven't heard of the CNC crashing your browser, but it sounds like a problem within your browser software. You might want to try using a different browser, or upgrading to a newer version...

Let us know what browser you are using, what version, and what steps you take that lead up to the browser crash - maybe another Mac user here can try to reproduce the problem or come up with a solution...

Thanks for explaining the folders Justin![nbsp][nbsp]Just wanted to know what I was dealing with.

As for the browser problem, yup, it happened when I was in the CNC.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm using IE 4.5 Mac version (obviously).[nbsp][nbsp]I'll see what happens if I use Netscape.

Hi - I use Netscape 4.7 and have never had a crash in the CNC.[nbsp][nbsp]Is IE crashing only in your CNC or does it do it when you're in other sites?[nbsp][nbsp]

I have two questions, hope they aren't too silly!

One-I am confused by all the folders in my file manager.[nbsp][nbsp]So far I have worked within /www and it has worked but I would like to know what the others are.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm used to working with very simple systems (like Geocities) and I'm baffled!

Two-I building the website for work so when I'm at work, I'm on a PC and there haven't been any problems.[nbsp][nbsp]But when I get home to my Mac and try to edit a file, the whole browser just shuts down on me.[nbsp][nbsp]Is this normal?[nbsp][nbsp]Is there anything I can do about it?[nbsp][nbsp]I need to be able to work from home as I'm constantly interrupted at the office.

Any help on either of these questions would be GREATLY appreciated![nbsp][nbsp]Thanks!
