View Full Version : Netscape Email
The email button I created only works for MIE:
mailto:sales@area51comm.com (opens Outlook)
Is there another string I can use to open an email window when viewing the site in Netscape?
Thanks,
Gary

My understanding is that the mailto tag will open the default e-mail client in MS or Netscape.[nbsp][nbsp]I prefer to use forms as they are web based and don't rely on the particular mail client that someone has set as default. Many large businesses use an e-mail client that is not brower based and therefor the mailto tag dosen't work for them.

A simple mailto: link should work equally in IE and NS. When it is clicked on it should open up the default mail client on that system (could be Outlook, or Eudora or whatever).
Have you got the syntax right? It should look like:
<a href="mailto:sales@area51comm.com">sales@area51comm.com</a>
If you post a URL I'm sure someonw would have a look. It may just be the particular installation of Netscape you tested with isn't set up to handle these correctly.
