I just set up a friend with an IRM account here at FQ. After reading through the previous posts it seems to me that I probably shouldn't have recommended an IRM for him.

Is it true that with an IRM you cannot have an email address email@irm.com?

Is it true that you cannot connect to a mysql db with an irm?

Is it true that with an IRM you cannot have an email address email@irm.com?Well, not quite. Any email address that you create works for both the main domain and the IR domains. For instance...let's say your main domain is example.com and your IRM domain is example.net. If you set up an email account for the user 'joe', any mail sent to joe@example.com (the main domain) and any email sent to joe@example.net (the IRM domain) will all come into the same email account. (That said, there have been filtering solutions posted for IRs that can be located by searching the forums...)

More on how IR email works, including a visual, may be found at the link below:

Is it true that you cannot connect to a mysql db with an irm?It is true that IRMs cannot directly access the MySQL services:

It sounds like one of the Full Packages (http://www.FutureQuest.net/Services/Compare/) may be a better choice.

Ok, thanks for clarifying the email solution.

In regards to mysql. This person has a full package, and this new IRM is on a space on the full package. So the IRM cannot access the db of the full package?

I don't know if it is stated clearly anywhere on the order form for the IRM. This is a very important piece of information that could and was easily mistaken.

What is your refund policy. I will try to get my friend to upgrade.

Thanks,

I always try to make sure I read up on anything I order long before I get to the order form. I thought there were links to descriptions of the service on the order form....yes, I see they are there. This page (http://www.futurequest.net/Services/IR/), linked from every mention of IRMs and IROs on FQ's website that I'm aware of (including the order form), has the information you missed.

I can't make promises for FQ, but I'm very confident you'll find them easy to work with regarding a refund. :yeah:

bigjossey,

Generally VAS services, such as IRs, are not refundable as the work the service fee is for has already been completed.

However we have been known to work with folks ;) and if you want to Upgrade the IR to a Full package drop us an email, Service@FutureQuest.net , with the details and we will do our best to work with you :)

Since you can now get mysql with the very inexpensive entry-level package, any chance it will be offered as a stand-alone VAS for IRM's in the future (to save the hassle of moving an established IRM to an entry level package.)
