View Full Version : X-cart doesn't work with Futurequest ? Need advice >>
Hello,
I have just bought X-cart and I have some problems to install it.
When I want to install X-cart, I have got this message :
"Disabled functions list ... posix_setegid, posix_seteuid, posix_setgid, posix_setpgid, posix_setsid, posix_setuid - [FAILED]". <<< FAILED
Could you help me please ? Is it a problem from FQ or from x-cart ?
Thank you very much in advance,
JF
This is the message from x-cart :
''safe_mode' denies using several important PHP commands including input/output functions, program execution and file upload support. This makes it virtually impossible to run such complex e-commerce software like X-Cart. You must disable 'safe_mode' or ask your ISP to do it. If there is no opportunity to disable 'safe_mode' on your current hosting, we recommend changing the hosting service provider."
Well I don't want to change my hosting service provider... What are they talking about !... :D :D

The posix functions are disabled, however here at FutureQuest PHP is running with safe_mode disabled (safe_mode has been replaced by FutureQuest's very own Secure_Mode, which offers the same advantages of having safe_mode off, but with the security of having safe_mode on).
Perhaps some of the other FutureQuest Site Owners can chime in about the installation of X-Cart. I know there are at least a couple of Site Owners running X-Cart successfully.

Let me re-install X-Cart Gold and I will see if I can recreate your errors. I will report back shortly...
Oh thank you so much Rplantz ! I know now why the FQ community is so famous ! :yeah:

I just did a fresh install of X-Cart Gold 4.0.17 and did see the errors you were talking about. However you can still proceed and install the cart and I believe these errors were present when I did my first install on FutureQuest and there were no ill effects. I think the way they handle safe mode is why you see the errors during installation but they do not affect the way the store handles at all as Secure Mode does act like Safe Mode off. The admin side of the new install looks identical as the one I did over a year ago as far as what is available file wise and what is not the only thing the admin shows is not available is the HTTPS client Executable and that has never been available and X-Cart handles it well. I have never had any trouble with upgrades other than the files I have modified for features I have bought or added.
Try finishing the install and let me know if there are any other problems..
Thank you very much : it's working ! I need to test now and I will tell you if everything is ok.
X-cart looks pretty good indeed and I hope that i's a good choice... :)

For the price I think it is an excellent choice, I have however purchased some modifications to make it work a little more like I wanted and a little less "out of the box". That said it will work right out of the box easy enough and I really think you will be glad you chose this software. If you have any more questions please let me know, I am not an expert in PHP but have worked around X-Cart for a while now so hopefully any problems you find I have already dealt with and can help you find a quick fix.

I should add that I have been succesfully running an X-Cart shop here at FQ for some time without any significant issues.
While I like X-Cart, I find their support quite lacking. There are a few guru's in the X-Cart forums. I use one of them regularly when it's time to upgrade.
