View Full Version : FutureQuest Gains A Presence In Colorful Colorado!

Deb

Some of you may have already noticed that the postal mailing address for sending check/money order payments to FutureQuest, Inc. has now been changed from a Florida address to a Colorado address. This does NOT mean that FutureQuest has left the warm and windy state of Florida but it does mean that FutureQuest is now in the infant stages of expanding its presence into the cooler plains and mountains of Colorful Colorado; where connectivity and data center options are extremely strong!

FutureQuest's existing Datacenter and DC manpower, connectivity, legal location, headquarters, etc all remain in Florida so you need not worry about any loss of service whatsoever. What has changed is that Andrew, Debbie, and Joseph Gillespie now have a home/workbase in Central Colorado and we are exploring the vast potential of expanding FutureQuest's Datacenter locations into the Denver Colorado area where just about ALL of the major bandwidth providers merge as they head toward the West Coast of the United States.

~*~* NOTICE *~*~
The New Mailing Address, for sending Postal Payments, is:

FutureQuest, Inc.
PO Box 989
Franktown CO 80116-0989

For the fastest processing of postal payments, it is important to ensure you update your files (and that of online payment services) to the new address. The Florida Address will still be checked regularly, however, payments may be delayed for up to five days if sent to the Florida Address. Sending to the Colorado Box is best for this reason.

In time, this expansion should provide you with more contact numbers, service/support representatives, connectivity and service options overall, while not removing any of the options and services you already enjoy! Currently, and in the immediate future, there is no need to be concerned about any changes whatsoever, outside of the postal address for sending in check/money order payments. However, in the slightly more distant future you will want to keep abreast of announcements that may include more available options that will improve and enhance the services you already receive from FutureQuest.

If you do not send payments to FutureQuest using snail mail then there is nothing you need to change. If, however, you do send payments via the postal service, we thank you ahead of time for your prompt action in updating your files to ensure on-time delivery and speedy processing.

So, really, where would you rather have that picnic at? Overlooking the ocean or atop the rockies? :kewl:

This is weird...I was just on the mailing address page for no good reason within the hour, and I NEVER go there, and I noticed the new address. I was looking at a security video for no good reason, thinking of asking when you guys vacuum the floor so I can see some action, then I went to the contact page.

So I take it you will be moving the DC from Florida to Colorado at some point in the next few years? Is all this due to the hurricanes? If global warming is the cause of the recent weather events I can't blame you for seeking a new home.

I wish you all the best in your new home :)

So.... Had enough hurricanes?

Oh, and I like the ocean and the beach better than the mountains, even though I grew up 4 hours from great skiing in Ruidoso, NM (peak: 12,003').

I'm confused... Has the family moved, or is it just a second home in CO? If you've moved, how exactly is the datacenter manpower unchanged? Did you forget to bring Terra along?

Oh, man... I just got a very cold chill down my spine.

My original web host, the legendary Best Internet, was Borged by Verio, Inc., and subsequently destroyed.

Verio is HQ'd in Colorado.

So, in order for me to be able to sleep tonight, I need to know (although I think I already know the answer):

PLEASE say FutureQuest is not being bought out!

Me? Paranoid? I sure hope so.

Details being sketchy I'll confine my comments to: Congratulations on your expansion! :) Since the first notice of this move is the mailing address for payments it does sound as though the locus of business will be in the Rockies. A new high for FutureQuest!

I'm confused... Has the family moved, or is it just a second home in CO? If you've moved, how exactly is the datacenter manpower unchanged? Did you forget to bring Terra along? Our family has moved, though we currently are still maintaining our home in FL. Decisions about that home will not be made in haste. Terra hasn't done much actually in the DC in a very long time. Kevin is the primary 'go to guy' for physical Data Center work and he's still right there managing the fort as well as he always has. As part of the expansion he's also narrowed down some resumes for adding to his arsenal on the FL side :) The FL DC will likely end up with MORE manpower than it had before... not less :)
So I take it you will be moving the DC from Florida to Colorado at some point in the next few years? The possibility of opening a data center in Colorado is extremely high. The goal is in fact to get something fully operational here within the next few years. However, closing the Florida facility is not currently on the to-do list. I'd never say never to anything... but I can safely say that the current plan sits heavily on the word "expand" rather than "move". Is all this due to the hurricanes? If global warming is the cause of the recent weather events I can't blame you for seeking a new home. The hurricanes are absolutely a headache but not one we were unable to deal with successfully. Though the decision was made for a large number of reasons including personal, weather, and business the main reason for choosing this location is to get out of a "dog leg" situation with the major providers and into a main information super highway intersection without landing ourselves into the congested Atlanta area. :yeah: If you view any of the major provider backbone maps and follow the lines... you'll find it difficult to miss Denver CO  I wish you all the best in your new home :) Thanks! So far we're loving it. Plenty of new sites to see and places to explore. I found out the heater in the truck works and you can't use a broom to get that weird white stuff off of the porch :P Oh, and I like the ocean and the beach better than the mountains, even though I grew up 4 hours from great skiing in Ruidoso, NM (peak: 12,003'). I had the opportunity to take my girls up on lookout mountain last night to show them the city lights... lovely view. Absolutely breathtaking. It's been many years since I've been around the mountains (FL is flat lol) so it's been a beautiful change for us. FWIW, our home is sitting at 6,670 FT in the hills (Far cry from the 69 ft elevation in the FL home lol). I'll miss the beach... but thankfully I shouldn't have a problem visiting it during the off-windy seasons :) Oh, man... I just got a very cold chill down my spine.

...a "dog leg" situation with the major providers and into a main information super highway intersection...I guess that means we can add a whole bunch of additional 9's to the end of that 99.999% uptime. Wow that makes me feel all warm and toasty like the lodge after a hard day of skiing. :)

For some reason this makes me think of the Cringely story (http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20051117.html) about how Google is using its extra billions to invent a shipping container sized DC, is buying up all the dark fiber, and is planning to insert a DC at every node where a router once was...

We do live in exciting times. :clapper:

Well, that's a real change of scenery, all right.

From palm trees and hurricanes to mountain pines and snow. Lots of snow. Dress warm... So, really, where would you rather have that picnic at? Overlooking the ocean or atop the rockies? I'm more inclined (pun unintended) to the mountains myself, but it depends on what time of year we're talking about. :rasberry: the main reason for choosing this location is to get out of a "dog leg" situation with the major providers and into a main information super highway intersection without landing ourselves into the congested Atlanta area. My mother came back from a trip to Atlanta last month, and the stories she told me about the traffic down there were absolutely terrifying. I think you made the right choice there.

Love the house. Looks like you've got plenty of room for turtle tanks and the rest of the menagerie, and maybe a few people too. :rasberry:

Colorado is so beautiful - but I do vote you keep a place in FL so you can enjoy a warm winter sometimes. And besides, a house is a better investment than a lot of things right now!!

How are you going to move all those pets?!

Are you still playing with the video camera? I just remodeled my kitchen so I can do some great cooking videos!! I may have to ask you for more advice soon.

http://www.foodandhealth.com/new3.jpg Not ALL of the animals came with us....

The three day journey was taken with three trucks, three teens, three dogs, one cat, three toads, three bearded dragons, two parrots, two gerbils, one hundred crickets, and one 29 gallon aquarium.

The built-in aquarium of course stays with the FL home and I sold all of the other aquariums. The turtles were rehomed with the most appropriate people. Colorado isn't the best place at all for the turtles I had under my care. It still hasn't sunk in yet because I do find myself thinking I need to feed or treat some sort of aquatic ... but there are none around anymore. The new home came with two new koi... one all white and one all orange.. both HUGE carp looking things sitting still under the ice... they are confirmed to be alive though

My father is staying in the FL home for the winter and caring for things/ponds on that end

Your kitchen looks FANTASTIC!!!!!! I love the cupboards!!! We still don't have high ceilings in our kitchen... I'm envious! That really does look great! It'll be a bit before the weather station and cameras etc get unpacked and back into production but yes, I am looking forward to diving back into photography hobby now more than ever since I have all kinds of new scenery and wildlife to work with! We have a muledeer that visits the porch every morning and a number of new birds etc. Heck, even the squirrels are intriguing to me! What's up with the ears on these all black Abert's Squirrels (http://www.nhptv.org/natureworks/graphics/albert4.jpg)? I'd never seen such a thing before... they crack me up.

Thanks for the compliments on the kitchen. Wouldn't you know it all started with me falling in love with that French stove on the internet!! And then the remodeler told me I had to get new cabinets to make it work - so here we go - some 6 or 7 months later.

Anyway, I would trade turtles for deer and mountains - and I love that squirrel. I do hope you have a fireplace!! It is so much fun to have a fire.

Your journey sounds like one of those pioneer days road trips!! I don't know how you survived it - but it was probably good for those teens somehow!

I am in NY right now - for a cooking class - and there is snow on the ground here. I haven't seen it in quite some time, so, in little-kid-fashion, I delved one toe of my sneaker into a pile!!

I wouldn't live in a house with a history of sinking anyway, hurricanes and alligators or not, but I wouldn't live in a location that's optimized for network communications either. I'd find a place that's optimized for good living. Like Orem Utah. I heard people there try to convert you to Mormons, but just don't bother with the people. Find a good people place for friends.

I'd find a place that's optimized for good living. Like Orem Utah. I lived in Salt Lake City Utah for about 6 months. It was just me and the three (at the time) little ones. It was the first time I had found myself "alone with children" as I began my journey away from the abusive ex. What I was most thankful for there was how FANTASTIC the environment (people etc) were for the children. As a scared lady w/o a clue it was nice to at least feel a little extra safe :) Texas wasn't even a blip on my radar for places to live.
It only took one (New Yorker/Texan) to change that... Yeah... it was one of those Texan Types that got me to move as well :P

John Are you sure you're not viewing text from the Blizzard in April 2005?

It was cold last night... and windy... but we don't have any new snow on the ground (other areas did get some.. just not us). I've still got a frozen pond from when it did snow (e.g. it only snowed while we trying to unload trucks...go figure lol) and our neighbors have a patch of white stuff in the shade that refuses to melt...but that's about it :)

Randall I don't think the blizzard was actually HERE... I think the issue was simply that there is in fact so much NOTHING here that cars heading out of here would end up stuck with no shelter once they got to where the blizzard actually was.

Reading: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1354503

Sounds like CO had closed I-70 to prevent people from getting stuck in the middle of nowhere...

If it was here.... it was not anywhere between my place and Denver that I'd been to over the weekend or Monday :P

Problem is... I still don't have TV and I apparently missed the "event" lol. I didn't see any maps showing 'where' it really was.... ignorance is bliss ya know :P

As far as what's between here and there... Franktown/Castle Rock would be considered "hill country". Lots of rolling hills. As you head toward Denver the hills seem to go away and everything gets extremely flat. I think I read somehwhere that Denver is actually the flatest city in the states. Our home in Franktown is about 1,200 ft higher in elevation than downtown Denver (the mile high city). of course if you continue to drive beyond Denver then you hit those really really big rock piles that seem so popular ;)

I have heard that many of Denver's early settlers were pioneers headed for California but saw those mountains (perhaps complicated by other things, pregnancies etc.) and said, "this is far enough..."

Outside of an imperceptable tilt toward the lake, I don't think Chicago could get any flatter. Having grown up in the SF Bay Area, flat is very weird to me.

You will notice that at that elevation water boils at a lower temperature and anything that requires boiling (beans, rice, pasta, etc.) takes somewhat longer to cook...
