Has anyone else experienced a problem checking for or downloading updates today? I experienced both. The FAQ doesn't help.

Well, actually, I didn't check all the settings, but that sounds like it's for first time users, and there were two different problems at different times, so I don't think it's on my end, unless it's with Verizon.

I just tried mine and got a timeout. Maybe their web server is having a problem or something.

Has anyone else experienced a problem checking for or downloading updates today? I get the same error message.

The price we pay for a free AV program is having only one download server.

I have noticed server/network problems at various times over the last month with AVG updates. Give it a little time and all should be well once again.

I was able to update a couple of hours ago. That's the least of my problems though. It might be AVG Free's fault that I can't use Futurequest's new secure email and that I have to enter my password to send email even if I've just entered it to read email from the same account.

It may also be your Email Client as Thunderbird doesn't handle the Certificate very gracefully...:dunno:

It might be AVG Free's fault that I can't use Futurequest's new secure email and that I have to enter my password to send email even if I've just entered it to read email from the same account. I haven't tried the secure email on a machine that's running AVG yet, so I don't know if there's a conflict there. Try turning off the email scanner and see if it makes a difference.

And I don't have password-related problems with AVG on any computer. Check your email settings and make sure you've told it to save your password, because that's a function of the email client.
