Folks,

I have been making modifications to the htaccess file located in the www directory and have accidentally overwritten the one in the root directory.

Don't know what was in it or if it was important, but it's gone.

Being all this nothing other than a plain admission of my complete ignorance, could anyone let me know what should be (or was) included in the default htaccess file?

Thank you all and be well,

Franc

Hi Franc,

Each new account has a default .htaccess file, however it is located in the stats directory. It just contains the password protection directives as the stats directory is password protected upon activation.

Thanks Melissa.

Investigating around, I just realized that the contents of the one I had overwritten must have been generated by the CNC (disallow directory listing, etc). Can fix that.

Ain't the world of the nescient full of wonder?

Ah yes. The selections under Web Site Options in the Settings section of the CNC will create an .htaccess file in your root directory if you do not already have one. So, to recreate it, you'll just need to choose your preferences. :)
