View Full Version : Hello, how do I setup an EXE on my site?
:kewl: Presently I can only load small file on my futurquest website and cannot distribute my book. Check example.com .I want to build a commercial site but don't know how yet. Anyone who helps can get a free Ebook, if I can find a way to open a link, since it cannot be sent via outlook express or IE anymore. They don't do EXE. I vaguely understand that I can modify my setup but I have no instruction file to follow. I appreciate any effort. Thanks AL50

Hi,
Via outlook, just change the name of your file.
File "mybook.exe" becomes "mybook.exe.bak". The person on the receiving end has to change the name back to "mybook.exe".
I am a big fan of "Weblogs". You might want to consider having a weblog with a link to your book in your sidebar.
There are, I am sure, many writers who have weblogs. Here is one example: http://battellemedia.com/
He writes on search engines.
If you are interested in Movable Type (a weblog software), you can view my instructions at http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20030 .
I hope this note gives you some food for thought.
Best regards,
Kevin

For your web page, if you cannot use the CNC File Manager to upload the file, use FTP:
http://service.FutureQuest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=49
Just be sure to upload the file to your www directory (or subdirectory of it). Then just provide the link as you normally would, such as:
<a href="http://www.example.com/myfile.exe">My Book (.exe file)</a>When people click on the link, they should be provided the option to save the file.
PS: I deleted your duplicate post in Open discussions as duplicate posts just tend to cause confusion and aren't necessary. Just choose the most appropriate forum and make one post. If we feel the subject would be better suited in another area of the forums, we will move the thread for you. :)
