There seems to be a theme lately of friends with broken computers having me on speed dial, especially for intermittent and other oddball problems :blah:
Tonight a friend with an 18-month-old HP desktop called. Their 17" HP LCD is all of a sudden just turning itself off after 10 to 60 minutes, and then wont turn back on until its been off for a while. If they put the computer into standby, it will turn back on just fine.
At this point, it sounds to me like a problem with the monitor itself that is probably beyond my ability to fix. It is in an air conditioned home, and it's connected via the same power strip that powers the computer which continues to run fine.
Anything simple other than windows xp's power settings that I might be missing?
