I have a dead Apple Powerbook 400Mhz/1 MB Cache/64 MB RAM/6 GB HDD/8 MB Video.
-Powerbook won't turn on.
-None of the 4 lights on the battery light at all to show any status.
-Tried hitting the reset switch and still nothing.
-Another person tried to troubleshoot it a year ago with another AC adaptor both with and without the battery installed, and it would not power on either. At that point they concluded it probably wasn't worth fixing, so it's sat ever since then, but today when the attic was being cleaned I couldn't quite throw it away. Any ideas on what to try, without spending an arm and a leg, to revive this old powerbook?

I've been looking into getting my powerbook repaired, too. I found this:
http://powerbook.techrestore.com/selfrestore.shtml

and it's a good deal to get an estimate on the thing. It only costs $20.

Has anyone else used these guys?

The power supply is what most often breaks on electronic devices, seems to me. And it is often the most expensive thing to fix. Now a laptop, it runs from 12v ayway... but there must still be an internal power supply.

You may have already solved this, but if not (and for future reference), when you have a power-related issue, try resetting the power manager (also called the PMU).

It's in different places on different Apple laptops. The Apple techdoc is here:
