I was having problems getting MySQL to work with an IRM I have, then read a message from last year that they don't work with MySQL.
Is there a technical or other reason for this? I have an IRM and need to set up a links directory with it, but it requires MySQL - if this doesn't work, I'm SOL and will have to check other hosting companies after several years of happy service.
Please tell me I'm mis-reading the situation.
Thanks, Carl.

Basically, they aren't allowed to. If a basic Visionary package is too much, well... you'll need to look elsewhere.

It's not a money issue, Paul. I already have the Prospector package, and would pay more to move up to a higher package if it meant my IRM could have MySQL. It's a convenience issue - I like everything being hosted with one account, one control panel, etc. If I have to move the site, I'm inclined to find a host with more flexibility which allows this.

And another practical reason I forgot to mention - I use common scripts on my three sites, and it would be a real pain to configure and update them for each site everytime. That's especially so for Awstats, my web traffic statistics software, which I use to monitor my sites collectively, not individually.

Carl - you're not the only who wants this feature. It doesn't appear FQ will be providing it. Only way "around it", is to implement a Web service on your main account that queries get routed through; probably not recommended though...
Carl - you're not the only who wants this feature. It doesn't appear FQ will be providing it.That's understandable:
2 domains
2 Visionary packages $9.95 each
Assume 50 MB non-MySQL storage each
Potential 50 MB MySQL storage each
2 domains
1 Pioneer package $17.95
Add IRM $25 one-time fee with hypothetical MySQL access
Assume 100 MB non-MySQL storage
Potential 300 MB MySQL storage
The IRM with hypothetical MySQL access would net an extra 200 MB MySQL storage at almost no additional cost for the first year and at a discount thereafter.

I've come to accept that IRM's cannot have MySQL access, but would love it if they could. Would be fine if it required a higher level package, too. It's not about price, but about the convienience. I just know that FQ responds to feedback, and wanted to make sure mine was registered. :)
