I've seen prettier roaches, for heaven's sake. Thing scared the life outa me.

Trinity is under the knife right now getting spay. I sure hope that one went through the same procedure. I'm one that thinks ALL animals are beautiful in their own way and the rest are just so ugly they're cute. For some reason, I can't seem to fit this one into either category. :P Hopefully personality does a lot for it :dunno:

Hmmm, at 14 and considering his breed, I think he comes by it naturally.

See the puppy picture at the bottom in this link. (http://www.crest-care.com/Hairless%20examples.htm)

Also this quote:
Some Hairlesses mouth will have missing teeth; compared to the Powderpuffs the Hairless teeth will appear thinner, sharper and some canines will be pointed forward.Snarpy

I should hope teeth and mouths are hairless. And what the heck is this about hairy hairless dogs? They should make up their mind. :confuz:

Wow, that is one butt-ugly dog! But, then, I don't think they make a cute chineese crested--they're all ugly :)

But, then, I don't think they make a cute chineese crested--they're all ugly I dunno. To me, this one looks more goofy than ugly: http://www.andreaharner.com/archives/chinesecrested1.jpg

Anyway, now we know that there really is something scarier than Deb's demon-possessed dog (http://www.picolio.com/Albums/Bandit/DogVisits102803i.jpg). And what the heck is this about hairy hairless dogs? They should make up their mind. There must be a whole industry devoted to hairpieces for hairless dogs.

And why not? Small furry mammals have been moonlighting as hairpieces for humans, so it only seems fair.

Except for the head, I'd say that is a perfect firehouse dog.

They're . . . um . . . supposed to be good for people allergic to dogs??!!

{{Is trying hard to think of nice things to say}}

It really looks like it has a halloween mask on, or fake teeth from the vampire aisle, or something.

I would have to think its owner loves it a lot, to care for it blind and bedraggled like that . . and to have the sense of humor to photograph it and enter it in an ugly contest. Somehow, it seems a whole world away from the actual meaness a human-ugly contest would be.

And "oh, please let it be true" to the spay/neuter wish, although if it isn't I'm thinking it's unlikely to reproduce in its present state. I know what they say about everyone gets better looking at closing time, but I'm not sure the dog is in any condition to barhop. Possibly, there isn't enough beer in the world.

Hope Trinity's tummy owie heals fast! Do they do that tattoo thing? When we had our animals done in Kodiak, the vet put a little tattoo on the shaved part - that international "female" sign, with an "x" through the circle. That way, if she ever got away from us, another shelter wouldn't actually open her up if they got as far as shaving her for another spay.

They're . . . um . . . supposed to be good for people allergic to dogs??!! So are poodles and they don't need sunblock ;) Anyway, now we know that there really is something scarier than Deb's demon-possessed dog. Yeah, my turtles after they've seen that ugly dog pic :P

There must be a whole industry devoted to hairpieces for hairless dogs. One would think...but Polo and I have been shopping for a lil toupee to go over the big bald spot (scar) centered on the top of his head and have not found much for him. In the meantime we keep dabbing on the sunblock. The sensitive guy gets lil sun burns if we don't :confuz:

That way, if she ever got away from us, another shelter wouldn't actually open her up if they got as far as shaving her for another spay. She's crate crashing right now :) I WISH we did the tattoo thing here! What a great idea! Our cat found us about about 8 years ago when she couldn't have been a day over 8 weeks old. Scrawny little kitten that appeared semi-wild. We took her in to be spayed several months later only to find, AFTER the doc cut her open, she had already been spayed. We were all shocked since she was so young when she showed up w/o an owner to be found. A tattoo would've come in handy. I never thought to seek such a solution. Trinity is doing well though. She has what appears like it's going to be a permanent limp but doesn't seem to care and is a couple of weeks shy of graduating doggie boot camp ;)

Yeah, my turtles after they've seen that ugly dog pic Here we see why it's important to keep turtles out of the sugar bowl. ("You're supposed to put the sugar in your coffee before you drink it. You don't drink the coffee and then roll around in the sugar after the fact.") One would think...but Polo and I have been shopping for a lil toupee to go over the big bald spot (scar) centered on the top of his head and have not found much for him. In the meantime we keep dabbing on the sunblock. The sensitive guy gets lil sun burns if we don't Can't he just cover the spot with his tongue when he's outside?

Polo could wear a beret or a floppy hat. Yes, a spay tattoo is a wonderful idea, unnecessary surgery is such a bummer...

Polo could wear a beret or a floppy hat. Polo Caps from Mad about Hats (http://www.madabouthats.com/polo-caps/).

Now, what exactly separates polo caps from baseball caps (http://www.madabouthats.com/baseball-caps/)? They look the same to me.

This polo hat (http://store.soliscompany.com/ralam4pohat.html) is described as a "single tone baseball cap," but it says "golf" on it. I'm so confused...

Polo is a Ralph Lauren trademark, so one could have a Polo baseball "type" cap worn on the golf course. I'm under the impression that baseball "type" caps all have a button on the top while jockey caps (that jockeys wear--not the brand) have no button but have parallel seams along the side.

Older men seem to wear baseball caps with nylon mesh and no curve to the visor (often with military insignia) while most caps are sold with a curved visor...

There may actually be a polo (not the TM) hat worn for the sport of polo. As it happens I am doing some research on this, but my work is not complete and my conclusions not yet certain.

On further inquiry polo is a "type" of cap as well as a trademark line of clothing and from the illustrations they appear identical to baseball "type" caps...

Maybe I should try to find a Wikipedia "type" entry on caps.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hats_and_headgear The hat I bought in New Orleans last year appears to be styled after the Australian slouch hat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slouch_hat). I sort of suspected that anyway, but the name was new to me. Wikipedia baseball cap entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_cap I've also learned that "peak" is a British word for visor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visor). I was wondering what all this talk about mountaintops had to do with baseball caps... jockey caps (that jockeys wear--not the brand) I had some Jockey underwear at one time. Never wore them on my head, though. And I don't ride horses (for polo or otherwise).

Jockey is my brand of briefs. Kohls only had the high-rise, and I think Macy's, where I use to buy them, had low rise, but it fits fine.

Jockeys wear helmets (http://www.saddlery.biz/pp/Horse_Racing_Equipment/Jockeys_Equipment/Champion_Euro_Delux.html) these days. This one I just linked is £55. Or you could wear your underwear on your head...

Or you could wear your underwear on your head... My underwear doesn't have an "extra thick shock absorbing polystyrene liner," so I think I'll refrain from using them as headgear. polo helmets (http://www.tackeria.com/shop/en-us/dept_13.html) Ah. Now those don't look anything like baseball caps. I think Mad About Hats was trying to pull a fast one. They also wear cuddly ponies pajamas (http://www.saddlery.biz/scp/Country_Clothing/Sports_Underwear.html). This underwear fixation of yours isn't healthy, Wass.

Ever wonder what life's like for the world's ugliest dog? Sam (http://samugliestdog.com/), a 14-year-old hairless Chinese crested who's a three-time champ of the World's Ugliest Dog contest, has it pretty good. Owner Susie Lockheed, who runs a beauty salon, buys Sam bottled water, feeds him home-cooked meals and lets him sleep with her under a down blanket. "I think it's amazing how she can care for such a hideous dog," said a childhood friend. Another said, "He's just too disgusting." But Lockheed says she enjoys kissing Sam's loose, dangling skin, littered with blackheads, brown warts and moles. To prepare Sam for contests, Lockheed stops moisturizing his skin and lets his nails grow long. "You don't practice, and you certainly don't groom," she said. "It's the opposite of preparing for Westminster." Randall

Maybe it was the pressure of having a Blog (http://samugliestdog.typepad.com/blog/).

Pajamas media ran the headline World's Ugliest Blogger Dies (http://www.osm.org/site/story/story.2005-11-22.5837335809?currow=5).
