View Full Version : chmod doesn't hold

I have set chmod on my public ubb folder to 777 as instructed many times.[nbsp][nbsp]But, when I close WSFTP and then reopen WSFTP and go back to check it, it is at 644 again.[nbsp][nbsp]No matter how many times I do it, WSFTP says it is completed okay but, it is always back at 644.

The folder is big/dom/ximark2000/www/ubb.

More weird stuff concerning chmod

1.) I set permissions on any file or folder in my site.
2.) A check of permissions on any other file or folder reveals that all files and folders have the same permissions as the file or folder set in step 1
3.) Close WSFTP Pro
4.} Reopen WSFTP Pro
5.) A check of all files and folders in my site reveals absolutely every folder and file to be set at 644.

What's going on?

wsftp and chmod:

You must use the 'dirinfo' button in wsftp to view the file permissions in a directory. The 'chmod' popup menu option always defaults to a value (usually 644) to SET permissions, but it does not show you what the current permissions are.

Due to the above, you must use care when using the popup 'chmod' option. If you decide to not change the permissions for the selected file, you must use Cancel and NOT OK or you will inadvertently reset the permissions to the displayed value.

Thanks, Rich.

I and a friend of mine have been using WSFTP Pro for quite some time, he for two years and me for about 8 months.[nbsp][nbsp]No one has ever told either one of us this and we have asked IPSwitch about this before.

Again, thanks.[nbsp][nbsp]This is invaluable.
