I have a program installed on my server here, and a component of this program can direct email through perl scripts and custom filters. One script in particular would allow me to receive email attachments in a "helpdesk" system. However, it requires the mimencode (or mmencode) package. It looks like Futurequest uses uuencode and mutt to do similar functions, but does not have the mimencode package installed. I have read various opinions, but it seems that the majority of people think that mimencode is more powerful.
I have two questions. One, has Futurequest considered installing metamail's mimencode(why/why not)? Two, has anyone ever built a workaround to substitute uuencode in place of mimencode? (Just wondering if the two are close enough to be able to customize a script)
Any comments/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
