[Wed May 4 10:14:09 2005] [error] [client 151.204.6.191] request failed: error reading the headers

I've got hundreds, maybe even over a thousand since the beginning of the month. They are all from the same IP, but whois for it appears to be verizon so I am hesitant to block it myself for fear I will block others. They are coming in quick succession too.

I happened to notice my error log exploded beyond the one I've been trying to figure out (maybe I did today) and I won't mention the hundreds more lines of configuration errors I caused myself with .htaccess today. I have figured out I know just enough to be really dangerous.

Oh, even worse, I checked my handiwork and the site must have loaded from the cache and I was in hurry and thought, "great...it works" and went off on errands for an hour until a bunch of folks starting calling my cell phone. I'm grateful they were paying better attention than I was.

So, um, FQ friends, any idea why I've had this error from the same IP every 4 secs the past few days?

Best I could find was:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/httpd-users/200410.mbox/%3C134001c4ac4c$73bfad10$652e50d5@profundis.se%3E

As the post states, it could be any number of things, and since it is isolated to that one IP - most likely they are going through a proxy which is screwed up...

If you can track down the person at that IP and let them know, that should at least get the ball rolling with them to repair the problem...
