View Full Version : How to Kill default browser?

I think this is one of those Windows annoynances that sounds like a stupid question only after you know the answer.

Problem:[nbsp][nbsp]I prefer to use Internet Explorer for all of my web browsing.[nbsp][nbsp]However I loaded Netscape so I could use it occasionally to test my websites (what a rude awakening to see what the other browser does to your best-laid plans).
But somehow, probably when I installed Netscape, it told Windows to make it the default browser.[nbsp][nbsp]Try as I might, I can't find where to turn that off.[nbsp][nbsp]And boy is it annoying![nbsp][nbsp]It even happens from inside Homesite, where I know I've designated Explorer as the default.

Could somebody out there tell me what to do to make Explorer my default, but still keep Netscape available.

Thanks,

With IE 4.0 (which is what I'm still using), If you go to View, Internet Options, Programs there is a check box that says "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser".[nbsp][nbsp]If you check that box IE will ask you next time if you'd like to make it the default browser and just click yes.
