Are there any professional editors who wander through these parts?

I'm working on a project that will be needing one in a couple of months. If this is you, send me an email via my profile so we can discuss rates, the book, etc. Please include references and urls of past work or request an address so you can send a resume and clippings.

This will be a long term commitment of probably 9 months or more for the right person...however it will not be regular work.

If I like your work and you, and assuming you can deal with me, I will ask you to sign an agreement to stay with the project until it is done.

Betsy,

Do you have any idea of what the time committment will be (how many hours a week)? I no longer do editing full-time, but it used to be my career and something that's part-time (that wouldn't conflict with my full-time job, since that's what I use to survive) might very much be of interest to me (and since it isn't my career anymore, I'd probably work cheaper than most professional editors).

Thanks,

Jason

It would not be regular enough to guess at any type of time commitment.

It would be more like...I finish a section or chapter, and send it off to be polished by a second set of eyes. I hope to have the proposal done in a couple of months. Right now, the editor is needed for the proposal as I progress through it.

After that, there wouldn't be much to do until I was able to secure a publishing contract. I am hopeful that getting a publisher will not take too long based upon the feedback from informal queries I have made. It is possible that work could continue through that process but unlikely. Once a publishing contract is reached, they may or may not have someone that is preferred.
