I keep on setting my text colour to green but every time I open a new session it reverts back to the grey. Where do you set the preferences to be the new defaults?

Pete - After making the change, but before opening the session, go back to the Session category and Save it; otherwise any changes (colors, tunnels, etc) will be lost.

Putty sessions are stored as a registry key.
