How do I clean out, zero out or start over with the error log? It has a lot of useless old stuff in it.
Mike
PS I just went to view it, and it took over 5 minutes to load!

Hi Mike,
You can just delete the log.... it will re-create itself (unfortunately hehe).
Enjoy

Thanks, I'll FTP over and do it.
Clue...Apparently sometime in the past, when I made a change to an .shtml document, I must have inserted an image file named 1px.gif in several places. I obviously did not upload the file to the server. It's been logging "file does not exist" in the error log for months!
I just did a 'site search' with Dreamweaver 2, and could not find a link to the file. I uploaded it anyway.

I need to make a correction...
The only logfile that you can delete is:
logs_cgi/script
Any logfiles in the logs_web cannot be deleted by the site owner...[nbsp][nbsp]Even if I were to give deletion capability, the next time the error log is created will be 'root.root' with a mode of 644...[nbsp][nbsp]This is just the way it works and there is no easy method to change this...
What I may do is rotate the error logs every 10 days, instead of the 30 day rotation I do now...
Schedule (day of month):
10 - 20 - 30 (28 for February)
If this is seen as good, then I will make it so...
