Is it possible to customise the message someone receives when they get the message...
"Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the.."
Thanks
Pete
Pete,
This Knowledgebase Article discusses modifications that can be made to ezmlm lists, note that portions of this Knowledgebase Article only applies to legacy ezMLM and not to ezmlm-idx...

I modified the message as per the instructions, but this still shows up at the top of the messages:

Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
amishoutlaws@lists.amishoutlaws.com mailing list.
I'm working for my owner, who can be reached
at amishoutlaws-owner@lists.amishoutlaws.com.
---
It seems so impersonal... is there any way to change that text or is it fixed in stone?
Also, I added the subject directory in /big/dom/xdomain/username/listname and uploaded the files as detailed at: http://service.futurequest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=141
However, the standard subject line is being sent out instead of my custom one(s). Any ideas? Thanks!

is there any way to change that text or is it fixed in stone? The text you described is contained in the /big/dom/XDOM/SHELL/LIST/text/top file. Editing that file should change the text inserted into the administrative response.
However, the standard subject line is being sent out instead of my custom one(s).The subject overrides only work with the old ezmlm lists, not with new ezmlm-idx lists. The subject override hack was put into place primarily because ezmlm used the same subject for all administrative messages: "ezmlm response". This phrase had become the subject (pun not intended) of spam filtering, and it was relatively easy for us to provide a substitution mechanism. With the newer ezmlm-idx software, each different type of administrative email has its own subject, customized with the actual mailing list address, and setting up a substitution hack is somewhat harder.

Thanks for the help, Bruce. I tried to get to the folder you defined, but can't access anything above our directory... I get cut off when I try to get into /dom/ both using an FTP client and the CNC File Manager. Any alternate way in there?
COMMAND:> CWD /big/dom/XDOM/SHELL/LIST/text/top

COMMAND:> CWD /big/dom/XDOM/SHELL/LIST/text/top
550 Permission denied.Replace "XDOM" with your xdomain name and "SHELL" with your login name (refer to your Activation Letter for these details), and "LIST" with the name of the list. When you log in with FTP, you will normally be placed in the "/big/dom/XDOM/SHELL" directory, so you would really just need to change into the list directory, and then upload the "top" file. Make sure to upload these files in "ASCII" mode.
