I don't know where this little gem has been hiding, and although I impress easily.. this is a GREAT tag.. anyone use it?
<P ALIGN=JUSTIFY>
I use Netscape 4.51 and just wonder how the other browsers handle this? Anyone know?
Thanks.

heh I LOVE THAT TAG!!!
It is used on every FutureQuest.net page.. and it's used on every page of my new hosthelp project http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
Tis probably my favorite html tag of them all http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Deb:
AGREED!.. I just learned about it yesterday and boy, was I able to clean up the looks on some pages.
Would you know if Internet Explorer recognizes them?

Sure does http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
I was tickled when I found the ability to justify.. for many pages it can make a world of difference!

I've known about that one for a while, but personally I hate it (ducking). I can't say why, exactly, but even in printed textbooks I hate justification. I think it's the fact that the letter spacing is different for each line, making the eyes have to readjust constantly.
So while it does, in fact, look a LOT nicer on the surface, nice and neatly in line, reading it is a pain (just me here?).

I hear you, Justin, and I'm of the same opinion.
Also have done "Perception" in Psych 101, where they quote studies that show that people read faster and with more comprehension when text is left-justified only.
Things are also easiest to read if you limit line length to 10-12 words (average), after that, the eyes have to scan back too far and are more likely to lose what line they're on. That's part of the reason (I think) why bordered backgrounds are so popular -- they give a reason to limit line length without causing too much whitespace, and make a good looking site that's also easier to read.

I'll buy that. That's part of the reason I always make my pages 640 x 480 compatible - and usually have links on the side or blockquote the text. Less line length. There's nothing worse than a page full of text at 1024 x 768 http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif And columns just don't work for me - I've seen sites with newspaper-style columns and it just doesn't look right on the web - scroll way down, then back up and start again (of course, you see their ads twice that way...)
Glad I'm not totally alone on this one (wow, with facts to back it up, too http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif)
