As seen in this (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?postid=129802#post129802) thread, I tried joining www-html@w3.org by sending an email (twice) to www-html-request@w3.org with "subscribe" in the subject, as it says to do here (http://www.w3.org/Mail/Request), but I got no confirmation to either of those emails or to my post to www-html@w3.org.
What's new is that I tried subscribing from my Hotmail address, and I got a confirmation right away. Is there a problem with that list and Futurequest?
I sent a subscribe from one of my FutureQuest Hosted site addresses (not my FutureQuest address) and received an immediate reply, which by the way appears that they do not subscribe to a double opt-in requirement :(
You have added to the subscriber list of:
www-talk@w3.org
the following mail address:
Bob@MyDomain.com
By default, copies of your own submissions will be returned.
This is an automated subscription mechanism. For your verification, a
transcript of the original subscription request is included below.
If the wrong address has been subscribed and you seem to be unable to fix it
yourself, reply to this message now (quoting it entirely (for diagnostic
purposes), and of course adding any comments you see fit).
I also note this from the indicated URL in your post...
Note that you won't get an acknowledgement if you are already subscribed - call it a bug or a feature - this is how our listserver works! http://www.w3.org/Mail/Request

I know I wasn't already subscribed because I don't receive posts to that list. I used to be subscribed, that was from my Hotmail address, which I used again to subscribe successfully. I didn't receive a copy of my post yet, but I did get an email from the list in addition to the one you posted:Your message has NOT been distributed to the list; before we distribute it,
we need your permission to include your message in our Web archive of all
messages distributed to this list....I followed the instructions and I expect my post to appear on the list.
Should I send the date and time of the emails that I tried sending from my Futurequest email address to the service desk for investigation?
I would first check any and all filters installed on your account and then search my email client/application and see if they have not gotten filtered in some manner.
The address I sent from and received the immediate reply to is a standard CS based domain and as I noted I had no problem in submitting the address, receiving the reply and now have Unsubscribed and received the confirmation of that action.
The subscribe confirmation was sent from the address
From: www-talk-request@w3.org
As was the unsubscribe confirmation.
If you cannot locate a reason you did not receive the confirmations you can submit information to the Service desk and we will try and see what we can find, include the Address submitted and the time, date and time zone it was submitted.
Thanks,
Bob

Ok, I checked my deleted messages and saw what filters I have on (just Spam Assassin). I don't have w3.org blacklisted. I don't redirect bounced emails anywhere, so I can't check for those. Spam Assassin is set to 5.5. I forgot to mention this in my service request.
