View Full Version : Open link in a new window?

Justin brought this to my attention, thought that I would share it. He noticed that I have paid advertisers links opening in my 'framed' page, and suggests that I have them open in a new window or full frame.

I tend to agree with him, it seems like the ethical thing to do, after all the advertiser is paying me to send traffic...

But if the advertiser hasn't mentioned it, should it concern me? Any thoughts on the subject?

ps: I HAD to convert the site to frames, the navigation was getting out of hand, even using ssi everywhere that I could.

Thanks,
Mike

hi mikeeeeeeeeeeeeee... *mega hugs*

I am not looking at your source, but if ya want to have a link open up to a new window...

<a href="whateverlink.htm" target="_new">

does this help ya?

my views on this are:

I would allow for the new window in the event your viewer needs to bookmark that particular site, it will be a whole lot easier for them, as there are many that do not know that you can right click and open the frame in the new window.

If you are getting paid on commission, however, i might just leave things as they are so they would be bookmarking your site to go back! *EG*

Mike...I actually disagree with Justin..

I would keep it in your frames unless an advertiser has an issue with it. Once a visitor leaves your site, getting them back becomes another issue...especially with newbies that get lost in the maze of clicks.

If you've not had a complaint, I'd leave it. They are still getting the traffic and if a visitor decides to open the frame in a new window they can.

That's my opinion. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
