View Full Version : ZenCart README files invisible (.htaccess question or gotcha)

I'm trying out ZenCart and when I went to look at the README... files online, I found they weren't listed in the docs/ folder.

So... it turns out this must be due to a server-wider directive, similar to this one, found on the Apache web site:

IndexIgnore README .htaccess *~

Can we find out what stuff like this is in the server-wide htaccess file?

Seems like a gotcha that would be mentioned in the ZenCart forums, but it's not. Maybe it's intentional that README files should not be public??

There is an unresolved issue with mod_autoindex that we have not yet determined how to resolve - that is what is hijacking the README files... Hopefully this will be resolved sometime this weekend...

Thanks! Speaking of ZenCart, what do people think of shopping carts that require users to register before shopping? I put off ZenCart because I don't like that model, but then again, that's how Amazon works, right? I've always used the other model, where the user fills up a cart and then enters his/her info on checkout.

I would not use the site and leave to buy elsewhere if I can. I just took a drive by at Amazon stuck some stuff in the shopping cart without registering. If I decide to purchase, you can have my information upon checkout but not before.

ZenCart doesn't require that users register before shopping. Their carts just aren't saved if they leave the site without checking out.
