well.. i was not sure where to post this.. so thought here it would get noticed. i hope this is okay?

I don't know a whole lot about video files since I never thought I would have to. *.avi files.

What are recommendations as to having these involved with web sites? Like file size. which would be appropriate? Is there a required plug in to view such files? Would it be best to download these files rather than making them part of the website? HA. i know so little about this.. I am not even sure of the questions to ask!

I would appreciate all input on this that I can get. Even if it is URL's to go see. Thanks in advance!!! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Hmm . .. not something I've ever dealt with . . but I *think* the usual plugin required is RealPlayer -- the url to their site is www.real.com (http://www.real.com) -- the Player is free, but you can get a "plus" version for $$ which is fancier. I have a window to their page open now, it shows that it also has "tools" for download to create streaming media. You might want to start there and see if it's what you want.

Like I said, I never really dealt with this sort of thing before, the only reason I'm so familiar with this site is that I was just there to get Real Audio so I could go listen to the boondogs' online song samples. http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

Good luck!

Hearts - you dont have to have anything special to run avi. I think real player will play them and windows mediaplayer will as well. But you can also use avi in html as static imaging. The only thing about them is that they are huge! If you are using actual video footage you can expect 30sec to be 300-500k. It all depends on the content. A lot of 3d and CAD type programs like to export in avi format. I had a simple spinning globe on one of my pages one time. It was like 35x35 or something like that and it came out to 40k. So they can eat up space.
