Well guys our company just join Futurequest. We are the new child of this great company and we love it so far. Deb your the greatest for helping me work out the change our company needed so soon.
Here is the question. What should I set Frontpage on as far as image maps are concerned to be compatiable with Futurequest servers? NCSA? CERN? FRONTPAGE? or NETSCAPE? Any help that you can give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated? Thank you in advance. And the FutureQuest Team please keep up the excellent service. Deb, if I had you as a partner 3 years ago I might of kept my business. You are truly an angel from the Internet heavens.
Thanks

When frontpage makes an image map it just uses standard px area coordinates, correct? And it doesnt give you extensions like a true webbot component i.e. <----webbot begin---> then all kinds of green stuff in the html<---webbot end---->.
But it does give you <---fronpage imagemao--->rectangle 24,45,45,98<---frontpage imagemap--->. Or something like that...It shouldnt matter..I guess I shouldnt say that. Are you trying to use personal web server to publish to the web?
I havent ever used fp for this, I only use it to build framesets (quick,easy,greasy).But I ***believe*** that as long as you dont use the fp option it leaves out the junk fp extensions that would leave the imap in ruins. Deb - do you have fp ext installed? I never thought of that.
Hope you arent too confused. Ill try it and get back to you.

hhmmmm
I do not currently have it installed... but will have it back in and running by tomorrow night http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
On a wild guess I would go "NETSCAPE" for a first try... I can pretty much promise the "frontpage" wont work... we do not offer frontpage extensions (that would be a security risk and a major pita being we are unix based and not NT)
The cheap answer is... try them all and then see which one worked http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif but if you don't find your answer by tomorrow night... I'll have it for you http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Deb
p.s. thanks for the wonderful compliments but I seriously didn't do anything we wouldn't have done for anyone on this server. FQuest is different queticon... it's just not run the same as most -- deal with it http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

If I remember correctly from my FP days, the default type of image map created some undesirable dispay of coordinates when the cursor moved over the image...can this option be left blank? It seems like that's what I did and it worked fine.
I used the default settings for FP Image maps and it worked fine...
<!--webbot bot="ImageMap" rectangle="(171,28) (264, 94) http://www.aota.net"
circle="(89,35) 35 http://www.futurequest.net" src="title.gif" width="265"
height="100" alt="title.gif (16477 bytes)" border="0" -->
is what it looked like.
So the default settings work fine... not the prettiest code in the world.. but efficient.
There's another good thread on image map utilities at http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000011.html

Thank You everyone for giving such good advice on this issue, but I have since threw Front Page to the curb....It was added extra code that did not need to be in the pages, so Ihave gotten another program that does not added extras. Shame on Bill Gates for trying to corner the market on everything. (Bill greed is a deadly sin)
So I guess I am going to close this thread on this note thank you all for your help and I am back to coding the old way by hand.
Thanks,
