Selling downloadable files?

Hi folks,

I'm currently setting up a small PayPal based store to sell (for now) exclusively downloadable content (.pdf files). My plan was to simply send the materials as email attachments after receiving payment but this seems awfully low-tech.
Is there a simple mechanism for automating this process? I'm thinking of some kind of system that allows login/password access to an ftp area or something.
I found a service called Payloadz which appears to handle these sorts of transactions. Does anyone have any experience with this service?
