View Full Version : Q's New guy here... new AND slow....
Hello, Nice to talk to you pros...
My name is John Park(or tmax) and I'll be asking a lot of questions in the future.
I have a very limited knowledge on HTML and
all that funky stuffs.
I would like to ask two questions for now http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
1. Is there a "FREE" e-mail software that I can download? or what could be the best "FREE" way for me to manage e-mail.
is Endora(spell?) absolutely necessary?
2. Can I have my own Bulletin board?
if so.... what's the best way?
Thank you for reading.
I'll try to learn tricks by myself, without bothering you pros.... but when I get stuck with some stupid, easy, subjects, please help me out. And don't forget to talk to me in easy to understand sentences.....
Thank yo very much. and God bless.

Hi John
I'm not a pro but I have to respond to your questions because you sound just like me http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
The easiest way for me to manage email is through yahoo email.
I didn't have to downoad anything..you can set it up to check pop email. (up to 3 servers)
You'll get more helpful responses..everyone here is wonderful about answerng questions but I wanted to say hello http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

I believe Eudora Light is free as is MS Outlook which comes bundled with the Windows OS...
Doing a simple search is your best bet and then just deciding which one will work best for you.. many options.. it's a matter of preference.. I like Eudora the best for my personal needs.
As for running your own Bulletin Board.. sure you can do this http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif Not a problem at all. You need only find out which one of the hundreds to choose from you want to use http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
The forum we use here can be found at http://www.Ultimatebb.com this one costs though.. Many people seem to like the WWWBoard which is a free message board system you can pick up at www.cgi-resources.com (http://www.cgi-resources.com) there are many different boards that are free to choose from there.
Hope this helps get you started and Welcome to the CNC Forums!

Deb,
can Outlook be used with Netscape?
It's on my taskbar but I've never used it & if I configure it..do you know if it will affect my regular ISP email acct?
(no info on it or I would have read it myself http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif )
Thanks
I've never used Outlook myself... which explains the lack of docs on it <grin>
I do know there are quite a few others who are using it and seem to be doing fine. I don't see any reason why it would affect your other programs at all....
Possibly make a new thread "MS Outlook" and see if you can gather the attention of some of those using it.. they would be of more help then I am in that area...
It couldn't hurt to set it up and give it a shot...
