Any Publisher fans? I'm stuck

I'm desinging in MSPub and save in tow ways. Once in Pub and once in HTML. Here's the problem. As I was saving in Pub, my puter farted. Now, that is not opening. The question:...Is it possible to open the HTML doc in Pub or is it possible to download the page on SUSOGI and open it in Pub? I have one back up doc in Pub saved but it's REAL old.

Hey John,

To be honest I would highly advise against MSPub for HTML... it's great for many things but HTML isn't one of them. As such I can't really say since I don't use it.

Best way to find out if you can do the things you're asking about is to give it a try.. other then that let's hope another MSpub user shows up for you, unless....

You would be willing to entertain the idea of using a different HTML editor?

http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/ is a great txt based HTML editor that is careware.. meaning the price is to simply do something nice for someone.

Also if you use Netscape Navigator they have a decent Wysiwyg Editor in the browser itself.

Hi Deb. I've tryed everything I can think of to open this thing in Pub. I hope another, more experienced user does come along.

I'll have a look at the HTML editor you suggested.....but, I have developed 22 pages and put it on the site and haven't written even one line of code. I will recognize HTML, but to take it from here to develope the page doesn't sound too fun to me...hehe.

Dont have it and the one time I used it I was like er away on vacationadn had some updating to do adn there was nothig else - foudnthe experience very distasteful -

of course I do have experinece with ok um I totally messed my files on my computer now what?
since they havent been changed on the server well the beauty there is I can pick them right up thru ftp or if it's just html and not shtml or soemting else I can go to the site in my browser and download it (but I really perfer to get it as is by ftp)
voila! I got my original documetn back!!!!
and am free to mutilate it again at will.!

A lot of my stuff I do text only in the program deb mention - very kewl tex edictor does html form cgi perl java txt lots of stuff jsut about nything that wuld be online you can edit it there.
Has great selection of buttons so liek I dont realy have to type much of the html commands I just choose my options http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif adb you can preview in you normal web browser - on otehr aspects Im just very visual - like I need o do layout stuff in a WYSIWYG so I kow the exact postiting in relation the the big picture - and sometims I'm just really lazy
but I alwasy end up having to tweak stuff inteh raw html myself anyway - point is - you CAN get back your original if its onthe webserver - get it open it up back it up do whatever-
if your file wont open its probably corrupted
you can use your back up but if its way old like why make all teh extra work for yourself.
does MS Pub really have 2 separete file formats it saves in - its not all html - like the difernce is that with one your viewing it like WYSIWYG and teh otehr is all text? Im confused -
I'd share all teh times I have totally goofed my files or the computer farted and I lost everything I'd done ! aaaaaargh!!!1
um hehehe I totally obliterated my main indeex page onteh rabbitrescue.org site and liek I wasnt home so I just made a quick replacement that said sopemthing to the effect that the dummy webmaster like totally overworte the file with something else by accident DUH! - until I culdget home a couple hours later and reupload the dern thing!

just fool with it - that's how I learn everything - and the only times I've really screwed upi wasnt foolin I just waznt paying attention! :Þ

PS - if you really need a WSIWYG go with netscape communicator 4.5 its free - um takes a year to download cuz it is a package deal - but the composer (editor) is decent
adn it always saves in html -
er and liek you might want to practice that raw html - just incase - yes it more FUN in the otehr form but sometims there si stuff you have to do by hand that you cant do otherwise.

thre alwasy liek thiose pricey WYSIWYG editors like frontpage 98 has a lot more features but for those of us who are scraping by . . .

Hi Lea, Thanks for the response. I've tried everything I can think of and now I'm stating on all the sugestions that you and Deb ahave suggested. I'd write more, but I want to go see what happens next in this saga....I'm with you, Lea. I learn everything by doing it wriog and trying it agian....hehehehe...
