I am in software dev (happy front end and structure design) but since I work with computers my friends seem to feel I should be able to fix theirs.
Most of the time I can fix them up with out a problem, but this one has me stumped.
my friend's sister had this xp professional computer for college and when she returned she gave the computer to my friend. Great except it only has an admin account and this girl with her higher level education has forgotten what it is!!!
AND has lost the xp disks. So we have every other disk that came with the pc excpe the usefull ones.
Anyway,
What i've tried so far:
Lenux boot disks
booting in safe mode
dos boots
typing every word in the english language I can think of to get in.
To no avail.

Any suggestions?

With a little searching I found this which sounds like it might work.

If Administrator is the only account, it may have been upgraded from NT 4 or Windows 2000. http://ebcd.pcministry.com Someone had mentioned EBCD here before, but at the time the link wasn't working (for me, anyway). The legality of including stuff like Norton Utilities is questionable, but I want to see if this CD can really change NT user account passwords.

Recently I was working on a system that had an old, forgotten user account on it. We couldn't get in because the client has no idea what the password is (if she ever knew, since it was apparently set up by the people who installed the PC). Probably nothing of interest, but it really bugged me.
