It's been a while since I posted anything. Everything's been fine, I've started with school and already have a job.

Let's get to my problem. My sister and I have ordered a FastAccess DSL package at Bellsouth. I setup her computer without any trouble, it's working just fine. Her computer is connected directly to the modem using the Ethernet card. Since we have a wireless router, I wanted to use my wireless card to connect with my laptop. But when I click on the icon for my wireless card, it can't find any wireless network. I remember setting this up a couple of months ago for the wireless network at my university, but I used a step by step guide to do it. My guess is that it's not so easy to do with the Bellsouth DSL. I know I could call Bellsouth support, but I already know how it's going to turn out:
"Hi, I was trying to setup my laptop so that it uses the wireless network"
"Did you buy your wireless card from Bellsouth?"
"No"
"We can't offer you any support then"

But I don't feel like buying a new wireless card from Bellsouth just because of this. I was hoping that someone could maybe help me out here, and help me set this up. I have a D-Link Air DWL-610 Wireless Cardbus Adapter.

What kind of DSL modem is it? Did you get the wireless router from Bellsouth? I am betting you are going to need to put the modem in bridged mode before you can use the router.

It's a Westell 6100. It says DSL Router on the back.

Marv,

It's possible I am misunderstanding here, but the westall 6100 is NOT a wireless router. Do you have a wireless router or access point in addition to the Bellsouth modem?

Betsy Ah, that would explain a lot. I think I misunderstood something. When I was talking to the Bellsouth guy, he was telling me that I could connect up to 4 PCs with the modem using a wireless cards for the PCs. So I was trying all of this thinking the modem was actually wireless. Now I don't think it is. I have to call and ask how I can have more than 1 PC connected.

Chances are you are going to need to buy a wireless router and put the Westell in bridge mode. You could buy a wireless access point instead but they are usually more expensive. There's some info on the Westell at http://www.dslreports.com/faq/bellsouth#15
