Hi,

I am new to FQ and need some advice on setting up stylesheets to view consistently between IE and Netscape. How can I get them to view the same? Also, where do I find out what version of these browsers most people are currently using?

Thanks for your help.

Okay, I've done some reading in the forum this morning about previous issues regarding browser compatibility. Some of my questions have already been answered that way so thanks.

For specifics, I am writing all the code without an editor and I prefer to import CSS but it simply will not work with IE. I am checking the results in both Netscape 7 and IE 6 which both support CSS, but I don't understand why they are still different. If I use CSS for boxes rather than tables, IE will show the box, color, and content, but it will not position anything appropriately, while it looks correct in Netscape. Is XSSI the best way to dynamically set up pages for both browsers?

woohoo

There isn't a simple answer to your dilemma. This may help you: IE vs the Standards, a primer (http://www.positioniseverything.net/ie-primer.html)

The parent domain (http://www.positioniseverything.net/) has lots of CSS info that may help you also.

I also suggest searching the CSS-Discuss (http://archivist.incutio.com/viewlist/css-discuss/) mailing list.

It is available to get CSS to work in IE, but it takes knowing its bugs and dealing with them one way or another.
