Despite the fact that I'm a poet and artist and despise money I'm gonna try making a few bucks (just enough to dryclean my beret) on the www. Perhaps a forum for such topics as shopping carts (now being discussed in "open discussions"), merchant services, promoting web design business, and other matters of concern to us entrepreneurs might be a good idea.

Hi Binky,
I think what you're looking for already exists. Have you applied for a Reseller's account through FQ yet? When you do, you'll get a password and url for a special reseller's forum that focuses on just the issues you listed. Email Deb for more info.

Thanks LeafWind,
I thought that might be the case, but I see some of these topics are of interest to others, as well. The "shopping cart" e.g.
You certainly don't need a reseller's account to be interested in and utilizing e-commerce.
I agree that a forum of this nature may need to be created.
It's something I've been tossing around for a while now... it is probably something we'll open up soon

I like that idea too http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif Right now similar topics are spread all over the place - and being that I recently added banner ads and want to switch credit card companies, I'd be posting there a lot myself http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Count me in as a vote of support on the: "10 Easy Steps On How To Get Rich By Hosting Your Site On FutureQuest And Joining The E-Commerce Forum".. forum http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Re: credit card companies (since Justin brought it up), a Commerce forum could be helpful indeed. I use the same CC company as Justin, and am fairly unhappy. Not only do they charge a lot, but my first ever order was a fraud, and I'm of the opinion that their 'anti fraud' checks aren't strong enough (for example, the bogus order I had used an invalid street address. It doesn't seem like it'd be hard to check the entered street addy against the one the card bills to, does it?)
Anyway, if we're voting, count mine http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

*raising my hand really high* in agreement on this. http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
Ok....
Then there is only one thing left to clarify...
The "disclaimer" "FutureQuest" is *not* claiming to have all the answers or knowledge etc in this area... we can't support all the third party shopping carts and certainly don't know all about all of the card companies etc... The forum, like the others, would be here for all of us as a community to toss around ideas and knowledge and ask questions but not be something stating that "FutureQuest is responsible" for answering or knowing http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
As long as you all think we can keep that aspect clear? I'll add it asap... My main concern is in adding more work to an overloaded work load.. as was touched upon in the thread about phorums....
Whatcha think?
Deb
p.s. We'd also need the 'decription' for the main page... ideas?

E-commerce, merchant accounts, and shopping carts - FQuest is NOT responsible for these parts!

am i misunderstanding? a completely new and different forum for this? I at first had the impression it would be a whole new category on the forum that already exists.
and as for disclaimers? why? If it is needed for that, then ya should put it everywhere? Cuz We pass around ideas and help all the time. I just always figured since we were helping eachother, how could anyone be liable?
People that cruel? To pitch a fit and hire an attorney, among what feels like family?
Almost like being told the miranda rights before posting. Well.. to protect the people I love.. put whatever disclaimers. I really believe this deserves its own category atleast.

Won't let this thread sew on without my input http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif. I agree on having this topic...is this current forum set up where you could just add another topin to it. That would make more sense than creating another board...or am I corn-fused.. ahhh shucks... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif [sorry, I lived in Iowa for 11 years, couldn't resist].
What CC company do you use that you're not thrilled with, btw?

hehe - Each area (Advanced Developement, Server News) is called a Forum. So adding a Forum is just adding another area on the main page, not another board http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Categories are the groups of forums, eg, Open Community, Community Members Only. Yes, it's easy to just add another forum on the main page http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
PS - I use RegNow (Register Now) for credit card processing. They mainly deal with shareware registrations.

That link was there a while back and it disappeared one day - now it's back. It has doubled since I remember it before.
