I am looking for someone that can handle small to large projects. The small projects may be as simple as a page update and the large would be designing a website from scratch. This is all overflow work from my own contracts and would be contracted on a case-by-case basis and would be handled as work for hire. However, I would like to have a relationship that costs me less and provide a steady stream of projects.

All communications would be handled by me as well as collection of business requirements, etc.

So why post here? The reason is that the people on this board seem to be very capable and the sites would be primarily hosted here at FQ, so an intimate knowledge of hosting at FQ (what is/isn’t available) is a MUST.

Other skills that are necessary:
Graphic design: good enough for basic website design
Strong in HTML, CSS, PHP, & MYSQL required.
Experience with large corporate website design and maintenance important. A portfolio to look at would be helpful.
Knowledge of XML, use of Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks are helpful, but not necessary.

While cost is always a factor I am willing to pay for the ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.

Please only respond if you have the bandwidth to do work in the immediate future.

I know I can find independant contractors elsewhere, but prefer someone who is active here at FQ for many reasons (you know who you are ;) )

Did I say something wrong or offensive in this post?

I have projects that need the help of the experts here at FQ and am willing to pay well for quality work. Indeed that is why I am posting here at FQ and not some independent contractor site.

I can only hope that the lack of responses is due to all of you being to busy to take on additional work. :)

If you are not sure about the projects please feel free to post questions and I will give more details.

I'm just hazarding a guess, but I'm wondering if some may have mistakenly thought you to be "hinting" that you had one *specific and particular* person in mind when you said...Originally posted by tristan:

Again, I'm just guessing as I wasn't sure, myself, how to interpret that statement. :dunno:

I do hope this input may help,
Melissa

Tristan, it's not so much what you said... it's what you did not say.

If you want to be taken seriously, you should, at the very least, provide some means for people to check you out. You haven't even included a public link to your own professional site.

All you've provided is some widely scattered specs (major red flag!), and the hint that you might have been lurking here for a while and might host here. If you've read these forums much, then you probably have a feel for the folks here, but nobody here knows anything about you. So, :) indulge us, and post at least a link to a portfolio.

First of all, thanks for the input.

I was referring to the people who have helped me for the last two years under another screen name. I created this user for reasons I don't want to share publicly. But I would be happy to discuss them offline with anyone who is interested.

I have not been lurking, but have posted numerous times under my owner name to help others with problems. I do see how this could be misinterpreted.

For the same reason above I cannot post a portfolio, but again would be happ to discuss offline and even get on the phone and alievate any concerns that someone may have.

I was not referring to anyone in particular, but attempting to appeal to those who are active in these forums. I feel that the many helpful people on this forum are people I would like to work with on these projects. I am active in manu forums, none of which have the expertise or good will I have seen here over the last two years, especially with regards to FQ in particular.

Please humor me and if you feel you are interested in the project, send me a private message and I will get in touch and answer any and all questions.

I do apologize for the original cryptic posting, but it is for good reasons.

These are real projects and based on the quotes I have seen on the forum in the past, the money will not be an issue. I am only looking for quality and am sure that there are many on this forum who can provide this. Please note this is not a one off project, but a long term relationship I am looking for.

Sorry for the confusion.

Email me if you're still looking for somebody. I've designed and managed sites for large companies all the way down to the basics. Serious programming is my weak area (beyond HTML and CSS), but I collaborate well so we may be able to compliment each other's skill sets. Once I have a better idea of the specific projects you're working on I'll be happy to show you relevant work samples etc. I also know a number of other web designers who may be a better fit if I'm not what you're looking for. Thanks! creative@tiffanyard.com

personally, i thought the requirements were a little too rounded. those of us who are strong programmers are more than likely to have almost zero graphic design skills, and vice versa. i know i'm one of those. also, i chose some time ago to stick with perl rather than take up php for web development purposes. more and more that makes me feel like a dinosaur, but i still like the language. on the other hand it does tend to limit my choices when considering the prospect of working with other people...

Work requests here have never received many replies. In this case, the main problem might be "Experience with large corporate website design and maintenance important." I think many people here (not me) have the other skills though.

You might be forced to get recommendations here or somewhere else. With enough research, you'll probably find someone good. Maybe even better than a FQ regular.

You may be correct about the lack of experience with large corporate websites would not be due to a lack of knowledge, but a lack of opportunity. I am hoping that some people who are interested in pushing their skill set to try something new will reply. I can live without the experience, that I can bring to the table, but the actual programming knowledge IS necessary.

I have had some people reply to my post via private message and am still hoping to get more.

Depending on the work requested, I have some time available for some development work with PHP and MySQL. Contact me, and I'll send references, prior work, etc.

Are you still looking?

Maybe even better than a FQ regular. Barry, that's absurd. You've been up too long, get some rest.

Evoir - Yes and no. Some people have contacted me via private message to discuss the projects in more detail. I am trying to decide who will be the best fit for the projects at hand, but feel that my needs can be addressed by those that have already replied.
