Could someone please clarify when the custom spam filters kick in? Is it:

a:) the moment an email arrives, ie, before it finished arriving.
b:) the moment the last part of an incoming email has arrived.

I'm just curious if it is possible to abort an incoming email before it has finished arriving, saving bandwidth and all that, once it's been identified to have originated from a know spammer.

Thanks,

Cheers, Claude.

Any filters that you would enable on your email accounts would be activated at the time that delivery to the particular email address is attempted.

IOW, if the email is being sent to myaddy@example.com, then as the mail system attempts to deliver the email into that email box, that is when the filter will be run.

Well, actually, the above is for individual filters only.

In the case of global filters, they will run first, before delivery to the individual email address is attempted.

In either case, it is not possible to prevent bandwidth usage by running an email filter. By the time delivery to your email address is attempted, the entire email has been accepted by our mail system.

Note that at this time, email bandwidth is not counted against your account, although it may be in the future.
