Not a SINGLE form-to-mail cgi is working for me today. I just don't get it.

First my PHP script will send mail, but I can't get the autoresponder to autorespond to it.

Then I try aota.net's formmail thingie. I get a premature end of script headers error.

Then I try to install a form-to-mail script. It's not what I'm looking for.

So I find another one. It's what I'm looking for, but it doesn't work. More premature ends of script headers.

GAAAAAAAAH!

This is frustrating me to no end... it's just a teeny tiny little thing but it's holding me up completely.

Welcome to the wonderful world of system developement... This would be called the 'domino effect', and if you are really lucky, 'fix one thing-break another'...

It happens all the time... I get mostly plagued by the 'FOT-BA' syndrome, as just serving a single web page is dependent upon over 7 different sub-systems in the process... Intricate indeed...

Wish you best of luck with development, in the end - your either going to slap yourself silly for overlooking an obvious problem - OR - pat yourself on the back for that really clever algorithm that perfomed the desired results...

am i ocrrect in understanding that this is only effecting the preinstalled scripts?

well Jacob, why don't ya just install the same version yourself from Matt's. That is what FQ is using..

or.. would there be a prob with FQ running scripts today?

and don't frown.. we will have to turn ya upside down.. to see ya smile! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

Thanks for all the kind words http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, I did come up with a wonderful algorithm that (temporarily) fixed it all...

<!-- offending form goes here -->

Deb cast light on the problem... PHP appends "from: PHP@futurequest.net" on every email it sends.. you probably want to delete all the mail I sent you :P (it's marketing copy..)

And sending via CGI/formmail works, kinda.. it autoresponds not to the FROM: address specified by form-mail but to webmaster of the domain.. In this case webmaster@icongarden.com.

:P

I had a wee bit o mail to delete too when I checked webmaster.

Sheesh http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
