Yesterday I used the CNC to create a POP3 mailbox on my domain called "testbox", which I used for testing the new EFM. I used QuestMail to send (and receive) messages from the "testbox" address. Within QM, I went into Options -- Personal Information and specified my Full Name and Email Address. When I finished my testing, I deleted the "testbox" mailbox using the CNC.

When I needed to do some more testing today, I recreated the "testbox" mailbox using the CNC. When I went into the Options -- Personal Information screen, the Full Name and Email Address from yesterday were already entered in the corresponding fields. While this saved me some typing, I didn't expect that information to remain anywhere on the system.

Can anyone comment on this phenomenon?

QuestMail is simply an IMAP frontend and does not know that you deleted that mailbox using the CNC. QuestMail is completely independent from the mail server and the CNC.

Just as your email program will keep its settings when you delete a mailbox, QuestMail will keep the preferences stored on the server.

My email program, Outlook 2000, allows me to remove an email account and thereby all of the associated settings. Is there a way I can do this for my QuestMail account settings, either through the QuestMail interface or from the command line of my login shell?

Thanks.

No, there is no way to do that yourself. And personally, I don't really see a need for it either.

If you need to have the preferences removed, you can send a request to the Service Desk.
