Hi,
my name is Meikel Weber and I am a new member in this forum. I got my site hosted with futurequest.net a few weeks ago and I am 100% statisfied until now. And I am sure that this will continue.

I don't want to write too much about myself here, but I have to mention that I love programming and I play chess a lot.
Programming is more and more coming to be my major personal income (shareware).

If anybody likes to see my site, it is at http://www.meikel.com

Greetings from Bonn, Germany

Hi Meikel

It's nice to meet you! We're over on Susogi.net, our homepage is http://www.susogi.net/Bekariso and you're welcome to stop by. We'll be checking out your page soon, but right now our housemates (Shaytar at http://www.susogi.net/Shaytar) are wanting us to disconnect so they can use the phone line to go online on their very brand new fancy puter that they just got yesterday. ;-) I'm sure soon we'll be on these boards asking how you let two puters use the same phone line for internet at the same time. ;-)

Hope to see you around and get to know you!

Hi Meikel,

Glad to see you on the boards... http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif

BTW -- you had me worried for a second, had to re-read it twice... http://www.aota.net/ubb//wink.gif

"I got my site hosted with futurequest.net a few weeks ago and I am 100% statisfied until now. "

Hi again,

you had me worried for a second
I am so sorry :-(
I think this "until now" is related to me watching our new chancellor Schroeder at his first speech in front of parliament on TV. This makes one think in different ways :-)
Suddenly everywhere in writing is an option to tell the opposite tomorrow!

We're over on Susogi.net, our homepage is http://www.susogi.net/Bekariso and you're welcome to stop by.
I am not sure if I really understand what you are talking about. I think I have to read all this again. I just cannot really imagine what is going on with you.

I'm sure soon we'll be on these boards asking how you let two puters use the same phone line for internet at the same time.
Here in germany we have ISDN which gives two real phonelines to use. So you can surf the web while talking to someone else, or you can just connect your computer twice doubeling speed. And I think that in the near future, the phone company will lower the prices if one uses ISDN.

I hope all this formatting and the smileys work as expected. I am still learning how to use this forum at its best.

hey welcome http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif I got this in one window and majordomo in another (I needed some distraction from that blasted thing! hehehe)
I'll check out your software in a bit - after I configure these dern lists!

You currently living in Germany?
If so I'm interetsed to hear why you chose to go with a US provider.

You currently living in Germany?
Yes. I am living in Bonn which was the capital of germany until they moved this responsibility to Berlin. Most government offices are not yet moved there, but they are going in the near future.
If so I'm interetsed to hear why you chose to go with a US provider.
There are many reasons for that:
a) FutureQuest. It is just a web-host only available once in the world !!!! And it just happened that they are not in germany http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif
b) Price. Web-space is very expensive in germany. This is related to the high cost for renting a phone line. Due to this, there is no host offering unlimited bandwith and to make it even worse, the limit is very low. So a shareware site is not hosted well in germany.
c) Speed. The main market for Shareware is still the US. Accessing german sites from the US is not that fast at all.
d) Service. Service is usually very bad in germany. This is totally in contrast to what you are used to get. I think that asking a german web-host on how to set up email is just triggering an autoresponder to the apache-docs (which is really helpful for non-programming users). But this is getting much better (at least in the online scene) as competition is really world-wide in this area.
