View Full Version : [FQuest Notice] POP Toaster upgrade
Bruce
11-25-2003, 12:19 AM
When: November 26th, 2003
Window: 12:00am - 3:00am EST
Duration: 15 - 60 minutes
The POP Toaster 02 (PT02) will be taken off line to upgrade its memory.
This will result in the inability to access your email (via POP or IMAP) through the FutureQuest email servers during the maintenance period. You will still be able to send email as this will not be affected.
This may also affect the ability to access the Email manager of your CNC during the maintenance period.
All incoming email delivered to FutureQuest during the actual work will be received and queued on the Front end mail servers for delivery after maintenance is completed.
There should be no email lost as a result of this migration.
Our apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.

Could that explain why I just tried sending an email (to a verizon address) and got the message that the domain isn't in the list of allowed rcpthosts?

Oh, ya think so, huh? :P

Sending outbound email via your email client does require authentication. Both SMTP AUTH and POP before Send do require access to the PT02 toaster.
I'm afraid that during this memory upgrade, any sending of email that requires authentication will fail with the error you received Dan.
Other outbound emails, such as those generated by scripts running on the server, or emails sent to mailing lists, should proceed just fine. Those types of emails do not require authentication.
We apologize for not mentioning the authentication issues in the announcement post.

Betsy Don't get smart with us now. If we didn't make mistakes, you wouldn't think of us as human and therefore would only see a faceless corporation.
With that in mind it would seem our mistakes were made on purpose and therefore not mistakes at all. :noddy:
So hush :P:P:P

- Hiding now ;)
:o Murphy's Law: Make a comment in fun and be immediately refuted by the email client. That was quick.

Use your ISP's smtp server, like mail.earthlink.net, if available. You'll need to switch back to port 25 if you have previously switched to port 1025. Or maybe use webmail. http://questmail.futurequest.net

The memory upgrades are now in place and email services should now all be operating normally again.
Thank you for your patience during this upgrade.

Oh, surrrrrre . . . "sleep in" until 4 am, miss getting to watch the upgrade :P!
(Thanks for the new goodies!)
My mistake. I was getting the same error message when trying to send mail as during the recent upgrade, but 40+ minutes later I realized the problem was The Bat!'s periodic choking (usually just happens when downloading messages first thing in the morning) took place just when I was sending something and brought up the error. Shut it down, restarted, and email is flowing freely again.
