Our Internap edge router suffered from a "neighbor overflow" problem that resulted in it locking down a lot of our network routes causing network path instability... Since the Internap egress path never went down (dirty), the routers did not know to fully switch over to the Qwest egress side (clean)... IMHO, this is one of the most nagging limitations of BGP4 that is not easily solved, in that BGP4 won't drop the routes of a dirty link when in fact it should...
We have gone in and restarted the router, and currently have it in standby mode with our Internap link turned down... All traffic has been diverted out our Qwest uplinks and is flowing properly...
Internap link will remain down until the investigation is complete as we work towards a solution to prevent this debilitating overflow issue from occurring again...
