Hey all,
My apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere - I did look but couldn't find it.
Just changed hosts this morning to FutureQuest and though I've been online since 1990, I canNOT figure out how to FTP in to upload my files *grin*.
Using: LeapFTP (very similar to WS_FTP)
My domain name transfer hasn't gone through yet, so I tried going through with the IP instead.
No matter what I do, I get the following server message:
220-TwoFTPd server ready.
Which I thought meant I had to set up an FTP account, which I did, and nothing changed.
Anyway, thanks for any info you can give.

Hi again Sage,
Make sure your remote Host setting is just the IP address and not ftp.xx.xxx.xxx.xx.
Also the following may prove to be helpful,
Most problems involving failed directory listings, connection errors or time outs can be corrected by making sure that your FTP client is set to use "Pasv" or "Passive Transfer Mode".
Some problems have also been encountered with settings in the remote startup directory settings. Check the path of your remote startup directory, it should either be blank or /big/dom/xyourdomainname (where yourdomainname is your actual domain name)
Also always ensure, if you are behind a firewall, that your ftp client is firewall enabled. This is usually a setting within options, advanced or sessions settings.
If after checking these settings, you're still having problems, please send us, Service@FutureQuest.net, full information including your OS (Operating System), FTP client and version and full error message from the ftp client and the settings you're using in your FTP client, as well as any other information available in order to help us better diagnose the problem.
Hope this helps as well ;)

Just for Historical Purposes...
Every Full package comes with a Default FTP account, set to use your main account username and password. This FTP account allows access to all aspects of your server space.
If your package is a basic or higher it will also allow you to setup up Additional FTP accounts and requires you to use a username you specify along with your VMIP (http://www.aota.net/Email/vmip.php4) (xdomain).
example: xdomain-username (replacing xdomain with the xdomain listed in your Activation Letter and username with the username you set as the extra FTP account user)
Depending on what you set as the "Root Directory:", during the creation of this Extra FTP Account, will restrict access to just that directory and any sub directories of that directory.
Happy FTPing ;)

Hey all,
Okay - looks like the problem was with LeapFTP - I went in with WS_FTP and everything worked beautifully. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi again,
Just for sanity's sake (mine mostly :P ) I downloaded and installed LeapFTP 2.7.4.602 and tested and it worked fine for me with no setting changes outside of entering the IP address, username and password %)
