View Full Version : Faxing/Alpha Paging under Linux
Has anyone used any fax programs that run under Linux? I am looking for something that will allow me to fax from Red Hat, and I would also like it to be able to send Alpha pages from Red Hat. If one program would do this, that would be great, but if I have to get two different programs, then that is fine too.
Anyone used a program that would handle these type of requests?
Thanks!
Jamie

I haven't ever used any of them, but, I think there are several fax programs that come WITH RedHat. :) (do "man fax" from a command line, for one of them)

do "man fax" from a command line,
Just a little tidbit... 'man' is a bit specific in nature, but if you want to quickly (broad) scan your man files then use:
$apropos fax
then drill down with 'man'...
However, this is making the assumption that the fax software (RPM) is in fact installed on your system...

Check out HylaFax, seems to do both.

Thanks ryount! That looks like exactly what I had in mind!

I may have to take another look at HylaFax myself. I attempted to use it about five years ago for our office network but the Win32 client was really weak. Seems like there are a bunch of different options now.
