View Full Version : [FQuest Alert] ESCHER Emergency Repairs
The ESCHER Server has suffered a failed hard drive, and efforts were taken to get this server back under control and prepped for a drive swap...
The loads have already been brought back under control and we will post again prior to the actual swap being performed.
We apologize for any inconvenience,
Bob

So of course Escher is the server for the site I am working on today. Should I work on something else until things are stabilized?
Hi Andrew,
As we will be doing a reboot to facilitate the Drive Swap it may be a good idea to delay any work. Kevin is already on his way to the DC and we will post right before the swap is started.
Thanks,
Bob

ESCHER will be going offline for drive replacement procedures in the next few minutes. We will post additional information once this has been completed and ESCHER is back online...
Thanks,
Bob
ESCHER is back online and the RAID partitions are rebuilding.
Total down time: 4 minutes
2:12 Pm EDT -> 2:16 Pm EDT
Our apologies are any inconvenience this has caused,
Bob

I was on the phone with the client. Told them the site would be going down in a short time for a short time. Before they hung up, it was back. They (and I) were suitably impressed.
Thanks!

How dare you take only four minutes to fix this.
I'm paying good money for this server -- and I expect this to take hours and hours and hours, just like it does everywhere else... lol.

Maybe we can arrange for the manuals to be printed in arabic? That might slow the process down.:)

Oh, but c'mon . . . plenty of people are literate in Arabic, FQ would just make sure they had a staffer (and a backup handy) to cover that. I propose . . . manuals in secret code . . .

Too late. Micr0$0ft and a host of other software companies have institutionalized that procedure...
