hi everyone--i am a newbie sort of hung up in the first chapter of my "frontpage for dummies" book LOL!!! <-----BUT i think i am getting the hang of it (sort of) ---throughout the book it keeps yammering on about how i MUST use a webhost that allows the frontpage extensions etc etc!!---well i have already signed up here (on someones recommendation) and it appears that most of front page will work here---(right?) please tell me if i understand correctly--that "web components" will not work? is that correct? can anyone give me ideas of the trouble to expect when i go to publish (that's a ways off still--tomorrow i start chapter TWO---kind of slow going!)---but i want to prepare..can you give me some tips and help me understand what to expect?
thanks in advance!

Hi Patti,

I'm sure others will jump in here to let you know their personal experiences in using FrontPage and FutureQuest. However, I just wanted to take a minute to address some of your concerns.

FutureQuest, as a Unix/Linux host, does not support Frontpage extensions, however you may certainly use Frontpage to develop and publish your website. You are correct about the "web components" not working as the features that require the specific extensions, such as Frontpage mail forms, will not work. For these items we recommend using CGI scripts, many of which are already pre-installed on the servers. The pre-installed scripts may be viewed at this location:

We also have a tutorial specific to using FrontPage to upload your web pages to the FutureQuest servers:
http://www.aota.net/FTP/FrontPage2000.php4

I hope this helps to clarify and welcome to FutureQuest!
