Help! I have just signed up with FutureQuest and changed my DNS from pointing to my old provider to pointing to FutureQuest servers. That seems to be fine, but now I want to know what will happen to the e-mail addresses I had set up with my former DNS. For example, if the company has been registered as abcstuff and a staff person was getting their mail at suejones@abcstuff.com, will she still receive her mail at that e-mail address through FutureQuest or do I need to set each of these e-mail addresses up with FutureQuest? What will happen to each person's mail during the 72-hour period when the DNS name is being switched over?
Thanks for reading this. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer ASAP. I don't want anyone to miss any of their e-mail.:)

If these accounts at your old host, were set up as separate POP accounts, then you would need to set up new POP accounts for each of these email addresses on the new FutureQuest site.
During the propagation phase, some of the email will go to the old host, and some will go to FutureQuest, until propagation has been completed.
You should be able to log in at both locations, using the appropriate IP address, instead of the host name for the POP mail server.
If you should have additional questions, please let us know.

Thanks, Sheila.
What's the best way to find out how the old accounts were set up? Do I have to call the provider or can I look it up?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by:
"You should be able to log in at both locations, using the appropriate IP address, instead of the host name for the POP mail server. "
There are two DNS IP addresses listed for both the old provider and for FQ. Which one(s) do they use? Normally their mail just comes into their mailbox, they don't type any addresses. How would they put in the IP addresses? Do they have to change the properties?
Also, do they have to change the e-mail software they are using?

You would need to check with the old host, for specifics about their set up. However, it is probably safe to assume, that for each email account that has a separate username and password for logging in to retrieve email, that such an account is a POP account.
As far as having your clients re-configure their email clients...
Probably the easiest thing to do, for them to get email off of FutureQuest's servers until propagation is completed, is to use our QuestMail web interface, at http://QuestMail.FutureQuest.net . Then, once propagation is complete, they could make any necessary changes to their email client, to use it for checking and sending email via FutureQuest's servers. (Information about email configuration is contained in your Activation letter, and is also summarized in this tutorial (http://www.aota.net/Email/emailsetup.php4).)
How you will get email on the old host off of their servers, once the domain is pointing to FutureQuest's servers, is something you will need to ask them about.
