Wow! I spent some time reading the 1998 (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=88), 1999 (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4315), 2000 (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4444), and 2001 (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10083) New Year's posts and I must admit they leave me with a flurry of memories and in a state of awe. Those posts barely touch the surface of everything that happened in their respective years, but they certainly bring back memories for me in amazing ways! I am so excited to be able to say this is the fifth time I have had the privilege of posting a New Years message to the FutureQuest Community Forums!!!

Five years completed!! Not one…. Not two…. Not three…. Not even four… but Five Years!!!!!!!!!!
:stardanc: :clapper: :QD:
We are now entering year SIX of our FutureQuest!!
:QTparty: :QTFQuest: :QTwand:

Six is such a nice number. My online nickname is Six, FutureQuest's second server was named SIX, Monty permanently retired six bay shrimping licenses in 02 (http://aota.net/forums/showthread.php?postid=79175#post79175), and year six puts FutureQuest beyond the "doomed-to-fail-in-the-first-three--to-five-years" stage. :P

Upon saying "Good Riddance!" to 2001, I had high hopes for 2002 being a better year and I am happy to say it came through for me :)

In the first quarter of 2002 we were able to introduce QuestMail (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10095), Python 2.2 (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10362), ezMLM extras (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10914), the Net-Sleuth Community Directory (http://www.net-sleuth.com/), and the SONIC server. This was also the time two of the community's favorite members, Arthur (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10819) & Sheila (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10944), became official members of the FutureQuest Team.

The second quarter was quite exciting as it began with FutureQuest's official move into its very own data center (http://www.VisionQuest.net)! Talk about turning lemons into lemonade! We immediately began to realize the positive side effects of this major step in FutureQuest's growth. We are all very proud of this accomplishment.

In addition to the data center, FutureQuest introduced features such as the email attachment filter (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11210), improved password security (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11492), the very nifty POPpass scripts (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11493), and improved communication options for the Server News forum (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11557).

The third quarter brought us a dynamic server status page (http://www.futurequest.net/Status/) that enables you to view the working status of any given server at any time, ImageMagick (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12143), and custom email filtering logs (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12151). This was also a time that the FutureQuest Team remained exceptionally busy putting the final touches together for the fourth quarter goodies ;)

Finally, in our fourth and final quarter of 2002, FutureQuest went through a major TOS (http://www.futurequest.net/Services/TOS/) Revision that enabled us to successfully introduce additional full throttle DS-3 connectivity (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12496) into FutureQuest's Data Center; connecting us to 9 major backbones via InterNAPs patented ASsimilator software. (That's a mouthful every time I have to say it! LOL)

As-if THAT weren't enough, FutureQuest introduced a feature packed Email Filtering Suite (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12547) that includes the very powerful SpamAssassin software as well as Built-in Filters that feature attachment, message size, IP Address, and SMTP Sender filtering solutions. The entire suite was seamlessly integrated into FutureQuest's exclusive point'n'click Command'n'Control panel (CNC) for easy management.

As an added bonus, many enhancements were made to the CNC in a variety of areas, including a major overhaul of the Helpful Hints. Suffice it to say, the CNC remains one of the most powerful and easy to use website account control panels available! … And it's only available at FutureQuest!

Even with the many new features FutureQuest brought forth in 2002, I think the thing I am most proud of, besides this community of course, is the uptime and overall stability.

:QTwow: The following is the overall uptime percentages for each server for the entire year! As you can see, unplanned downtime was almost nonexistent!
TAZ - No unplanned outages - 100%
SIX - One unplanned outage - 99.99%
NINE - One unplanned outage - 99.99%
SEVEN - Two unplanned outages - 99.98%
ASTRO - Two unplanned outages - 99.96%

QBERT - Two unplanned outages - 99.98%

HUGO - No unplanned outages - 100%
UNITY - No unplanned outages - 100%
HANNA - No unplanned outages - 100%
SONIC - No unplanned outages - 100% Let me just end by sending a very special thank you to the entire FutureQuest Team for your hard work and dedication. All of these great advancements and solid services wouldn't be possible without you. I'd also like to squeeze in a big thank you to the community as a whole for continuing to work with us as we grow and constantly nurturing what is rightfully yours.

I am so very proud to be able to say we have had these forums open to the public for over five years! 2002 has been filled with notes of encouragement and praise that come at unexpected times throughout the year, as well as recommendations that keep us in business. The public and private positive reviews, the jokes that come included with payments, and the understanding that we too are humans have been fantastic! This community as a whole, well… there are no words to describe how great it is. FutureQuest is seen as a "closely held corporation" in the books but it is undisputedly a "Publicly Operated Community" in reality!!

Thank you!

Let's all try to encourage peace and kindness in 2003 while doing everything we can to make 2003 yet another year worth remembering in the future :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!
