Howdy neighbors. I'm back from my unscheduled hiatus (for lack of better wording). The following is simply Del rambling on about the events of the last three days, and mild complaining about GTE and Earthlink. Probably quite uninteresting, but I had to vent somewhere. Please accept my apologies in advance.

We've been having problems with our telephone as of late (instead of a dialtone we had static and what sounded dead nuts like a cricket). A GTE tech came out and tried to fix it a week or so ago, but no luck. So, we called up and complained again the next time it happened. They sent out another guy on Friday morning, who came and went without so much as a peep, I didn't even know he'd showed up at all. However, it turns out that not only did he fail to kill the cricket, he managed to destroy the majority of the phone service to the house, including the office line for the PC... A call was sent to GTE Friday night, they said someone would be out 'between 9am and 9pm' saturday. About 8pm on Sat, they called up and said they were really busy and couldn't get here til Sunday morning between 8am and noon. Finally on Sunday the dude shows up, and discovers that the phone wiring in the attic had been literally sucked into an attic vent fan, and subsequently shredded. Took him two hours to fix all that. Finally, our phones were back up and running. First thing's first, so we make a mad dash for the computer. Lo and behold, EarthLink's service had taken a dump... The pc dialed up fine, and then the line would hang/disconnect/whatever. Took til about 10pm before the blinkin machine could do it's online duties again.
The moral of the story, Del is going to do his best to never give GTE a dime ever again. I'm also heading out tomorrow morning before school to track down a new ISP. Hope to find some unkown local one with like three customers so I can be sure the lines won't be crowded.
