what are the new ideas on internet? What type of sites are money makers and what is waste of time. It is interesting to see what other web masters are doing. Are[nbsp][nbsp]you happy the way your site is performing? Are you thinking of switching to another avenue? Let us know.[nbsp]

Not necessarily a money generator, but I think the second or third level businesses are the hot topics of internet. For example a price comparison site is considered as second level internet business because it doesn't have its own database but uses others' databases. Or you can use the usenet for datamining and generate some useful information, etc.
Hot ideas-areas:
- Targetted advertising if you survive with ads.
- Napster and similar file swapping tools (not necessarily for piracy only)
- egroups for example. Solves a very basic problem on internet for free. They can insert very targeted ads to the messages since they know what the topic of your mailing list is.
- expertcity.com and ants.com are pretty cool ideas.
Basically if there is well established site in your target area, it is really hard to get the market share and brand recognition. I think being creative and finding areas with no players is important.

at the risk of being accused of self promotion i would say that sites with something valuable to offer can make that fact readily apparent by allowing their customers/visitors to review/rate their content. that's why i developed MAGPIE which is a customer review manager. adding reviewing capability to your site gives you an extra degree of credibility and enhances the site's stickiness, no matter what your business.
i don't know whether this program will catch on. it ought to. we'll have to see. it's not a new idea. on the contrary, it's a well-known one. but the ability to add this method of content collection so easily IS new.
why let players like Amazon and Epinions have all the fun?
