Ok, I've got an iMac from when they first came out... and I love it, it's not underpowered at all, and it looks cute too.. But apple went and now they're making em in 5 colors!
See my post in the Mac/PPC forum to see what I mean..

It was an interesting quote from Steve Jobs. He said they asked users what they wanted - more RAM, bigger hard drives, faster processors...? What do they want in the next iMac?
And the answer they got back was a resounding, "We want more colors!"

Some people need internal floppies, but the only time I've ever needed it was once when I wanted to take something to Kinko's and my local one didn't have access to the net.
It's more important, of course, to have a floppy on a PC because of boot issues, such as the inability of many PC operating systems to boot off CD, like the Mac OS does. And in Linux, where 'boot disk' is often still paramount, it's even more important.
If you're transferring files back and forth from work or school via floppy, that too might be a reason to stick... BUT... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
USB floppy drives exist, they cost around $79, and the ubiquitous Zip drive has almost replaced em anyhow, and USB Zip drives are now out..

My fiance was a PC user before I convinced her to buy an iMac for her new computer, and she was very skeptible (that's kinda like spektacle, I mean skeptical) about the lack of a floppy, because they're such a big thing in the PC world. But she's never even needed it once and she's a teacher http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
I'm not trying to convince you to buy one, btw.. just giving a different point of view.. for some people floppies are entirely necessary, and I can certainly understand the need for them.
BTW, why an 'internal' floppy specifically?
You're right, Jacob -
Gotta have SOME way to carry files with you. I just spent a couple trips to my young son's bedroom carrying some random files to his new computer. A zip or superdisk would've been nice...
I carry a floppy to and from work with my forum files every day (synchronizing my OLR).
If I bought an iMac, my second purchase would be come kind of diskette drive.

My dream is to one day kiss the WinX operating system goodbye. But not for an Apple, I'm sorry to say. I just honestly think the iMac is WAY overpriced for what you get, and I still don't have enough confidence in Apple to buy any of their machines. http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif
I've got a perfectly good PC here. When Linux really takes off (and it will) I think I'll bite the bullet and make the switch!
The gnew windows killer is found at http://www.gnome.org
Alpha/Beta now --- On my machine soon as possible! It's the choice for the GNEW Generation!
Terra, personally, does not like Xwindows for Linux but... after seeing the capability of GNOME it'll be on his home Linux box for sure http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

geez... how 'bout an internal floppy drive?
Gotta have one before I'd break down and switch to an iMac.
Even with 5 colors, I'll stick with my PC.

Not a mac user, but when I put my PC together I spray-painted it black. I took apart the floppy drive, CD Rom face, everything, because I got sick of the off white that all computers seem to be http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

I've been stuck using this PC for just about as long as I can take it. http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif
I just bought my sister-in-law an iMac, but I was sneaky ... I bought her an "original" iMac (the "Bondi Blue" ones). For under $1200, she's got a machine with a three-year service agreement, and she got herself wired to the web in less than a half-hour (so okay, maybe my nephew did help a bit! I'll probably be ordering one for myself sometime next week. Rasberry, I think! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Actually, along with an Imation Superdrive (for those who think floppies are a "must-have"), the iMac (in any flavor!) is priced very competively with consumer PCs. When you factor in performance and "ease-of-use", it's the best PC purchase on the market these days.
And when I get mine, I'll put Linux on it (too bad Be won't run on the G3s http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif or I'd give it a spin, too).
