Hi, folks!

Have a question about moving domains between accounts...

The Clueless Mailers site is an IRM (currently at cluelessmailers.org) under xdogandpony. But CM needs MySQL now, so I need to give it the main domain for an account. What would be the easiest way to do it? Would FQ's wizards do all the switching? --- Or should I create a new Gold/Platinum account, move the Clueless Mailers domain to it, move dogandpony.com (etc.) under the new account and delete the original account? Note that the xdogandpony account was my first FQ account... Also -- I'm rebranding the Clueless Mailers site using the "Spamdemic" name, so the main domain would be spamdemic.org, with cluelessmailers.org being taken to another hosting service for redirection to spamdemic.org. (Did I make that convoluted enough for ya? <g> )

TIA!

Bob, it depends on what you want...cheapest or easiest.

Sometimes the easiest way is to order a domain name change, as then the site owner usually doesn't have to move too many files around. In this case, the FutureQuest wizards will take care of it for you behind the scenes, but there is a $50 fee to change the domain name on an account. So, you would need to order the name change from dogandpony.com to spamdemic.org, and then re-order the IRM for dogandpony.com after spamdemic.org was set up. However, in your case, there would be quite a bit of file moving, because of the IRM issue, so I don't know that this would be easiest for your case.

For least expensive: Order spamdemic.org as a brand new Gold account. Then, after it has been set up, transfer all of your files to the new account. Then order dogandpony.com as an IRM on the new account. This saves the $50 name-change fee.

We have a FAQ that addresses this issue:

Hope this helps,

Well, I don't mind moving files at all, so the "cheapest" route sounds good. :)

I read the FAQ, but it didn't seem to address the additional wrinkles involved in swapping an IRM and main domain...

I figured I'd probably end up creating a new account. So, yes, you helped!

Thanks...
